Student Visa Ban Lifted for U.S. Aspirants, But Trump Adds New Challenges
Agency, Washington
In a relief for students dreaming of studying in the U.S., the ban on student visas has been lifted. However, former President Donald Trump's recent policies have introduced new hurdles for international applicants.
Good news has come for the students who dream of studying in America. America has lifted the ban on student visa. That means now students can go to America and study. But the Trump administration has made a condition mandatory for this which may not be liked by the students.
Actually, under the new guidelines issued by the Foreign Department, foreign students wishing to study in America will have to get their social media profiles screened. Such a decision has been taken so that anti-American content or posts on the student's social media can be checked.
At the end of May this year, America had temporarily banned the issuance of visas for foreign students. A senior official of the Foreign Department said, "Better investigation on social media will ensure that we can properly investigate every person trying to come to our country." For this, US embassy officials will conduct a thorough investigation of all students and applicants, the official said. To facilitate the screening, student visa applicants will be asked to set the privacy setting on all their social media profiles to "public", the official said.
