New York State Senate Celebrates 75th Anniversary of Indian Constitution

The New York State Senate has passed a resolution honoring the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, recognizing its democratic values and the strong ties between New York and the Indian-American community.

International News: For the first time, the New York State Senate has formally adopted a resolution in honour of the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution. New York State Senator Jeremy Cooney is the only member of Indian origin currently serving in the New York State Senate and he introduced this historic resolution which was adopted at a ceremony on Wednesday.

The event was attended by India's Consul General in New York Binay Pradhan as well as prominent members of the Indian-American community. Cooney said that I am introducing this resolution in honour of the 75th anniversary of the Constitution of India, which is to celebrate India's independence and honour the brave Indians who risked their lives for the well-being of their fellow countrymen.

This is a significant development as it is the first time that a resolution has been introduced and adopted in a legislative body in the US in honour of the Indian Constitution. In the past, several resolutions have been introduced to commemorate India's independence, Republic Day, major festivals and other occasions. "Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution! The New York State Senate adopted a resolution introduced by Senator Jeremy Cooney commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution," the Consulate General of India in New York said in a post on 'X'.
