Trump terms Russia a ‘paper tiger’; ‘Russian aircraft violating NATO airspace should be shot down’

On Tuesday night, US President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which he called for Russian aircraft to be shot down if they enter NATO airspace.
In a speech before the meeting at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Trump urged European countries to completely stop buying oil and gas from Russia, saying NATO countries were funding their own war.
Trump expressed confidence that Ukraine could retake all occupied territory from Russia. Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, that with the support of Europe and NATO, Ukraine could regain its pre-war borders, as Russia's economy is under pressure.
He called Russia a 'paper tiger.' Trump said that Russia has been embroiled in a war for the past three and a half years, but has been unable to win. According to him, if Russia were a real military power, this war should have ended in a week.

He also called on the United States to put more pressure on Russia at the Security Council meeting, calling Trump's statement on land withdrawal a 'game changer'.
Trump had previously stated several times that Ukraine might have to cede some land to end the war.
In an interview with Fox News late Tuesday, Zelensky said he was surprised by Trump's sudden change of stance on Ukraine, which he said could help end the war.
Meeting with 8 Islamic countries
On Tuesday night, Trump met with leaders of eight Islamic countries at UN Headquarters, promising to end the war in Gaza.
The meeting was attended by leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan. Trump made no statement to the media after the meeting, simply waving and leaving.
According to the UAE's official news agency, the meeting discussed a permanent ceasefire and an end to the Gaza conflict. It also agreed to release all hostages held by Hamas and address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
US is ready to give security to Ukraine
He said that this shows that US is ready to give security guarantees to Ukraine even after the war ends
In Tuesday's meeting, Trump described Zelensky as a brave man.
Zelensky said in the interview that now there are more conversations and meetings between him and Trump, due to which the relationship is improving.
Although Zelensky acknowledged that there are no concrete details yet, he expressed hope that more weapons, air defence systems, and drones are likely to be acquired in the future.
However, Trump and Zelensky's relationship has been strained in the past.
