US Approves $131 Million Surveillance Deal with India Amid Rising Tensions

In a significant move reflecting deepening strategic ties, the United States has approved a $131 million defense deal with India. The agreement includes advanced maritime surveillance equipment, notably the SeaVision software, along with training and support services.

The cause of increasing tension between India and Pakistan is a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which is not hidden from anyone. Pakistan is continuously provoking India by violating ceasefire. Amidst this situation, India has signed an important military agreement with the US, including marine monitoring technology and sales of equipment. The deal has been done under the Indo-Pacific Maritime Domain Awareness (IPMDA) program, the main objective of which is to strengthen the safety and monitoring of India's maritime borders.

The deal is worth $ 130 million. India had requested the US to purchase SEA Vision Software, Technical Assistance Sector Team (TAFT) training, remote software and analytical support, as well as other equipment.

SEA Vision Software is a web-based solution, developed for monitoring marine activities. This software comes with certain reforms according to India's specific requirements. Through this, effective monitoring can be done on ships activities, illegal tasks and environmental threats in marine borders.

A team of American experts will provide training in India under technical assistance and training (TAFT), so that Indian Navy and other forces can use this technology efficiently. In addition, distance technical assistance will also be provided for remote support software and data analysis.

This agreement will strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries. The US considers India a major defense partner, which is essential for peace and stability in Indo-Pacific and South Asia. According to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the deal will not have any negative impact on the regional military balance and will not require deployment of US military personnel in India.
