Jeevan Darshan: Simple Rules for Lasting Happiness

Peace and contentment in life come from small yet powerful habits—practicing gratitude, avoiding negativity, valuing relationships, and living with balance. Keep these principles in mind to lead a happier, more fulfilling life.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says that to reach the spiritual level is to recognize life because consciousness is everywhere. Spirituality does not mean to be disconnected from life but to remain excited. Prayer begins with awe which expands our consciousness. Man is not a body but energy. The past and the future are like dreams.

To reach the spiritual level is to recognize that life is everywhere, consciousness is everywhere. I do not consider the spiritual and the physical to be separate. The most subtle state of matter is consciousness and the most gross state of consciousness is matter. This union creates this universe.

So spirituality does not mean to be disconnected from life but to remain excited, compassionate, loving and joyful. Every prayer begins with awe. When we look at the sky and say, “Wow! How many planets, how many stars, how vast is this universe!” then our consciousness expands. This is meditation. Creation and the creator are not separate. Just as the dance is not separate from the dancer, similarly the creation is also not separate from God.

Billions of years have passed since life began on Earth. Compared to this, a human life of 80-100 years is nothing. Where do we stand in this vast universe? When we see ourselves from this perspective, our thinking changes and consciousness reaches a higher level.

Vigyan Bhairav gives 112 ways to know consciousness. One of them is- to see the clear sky and let go. Gradually the mind becomes calm.

Three types of sky are described in the scriptures -

Bhootaakash: This is the physical space, where earth, water, fire and air exist.
Chittaakash: Chittaakash is the sky of the mind, which is the source of thoughts and feelings. Every person's horoscope is different, from which information about his Chittaakash can be obtained, how his thoughts and feelings will be.
Chidakash: Chidakash is the most subtle level of sky - the place of pure, silent and thoughtless consciousness. There is no thought or emotion here. Only energy is experienced. After deep meditation or Sudarshan Kriya, you can experience this place full of love, peace and energy. The journey is that we reach from Bhutaakash to Chittakash and then to Chidakash.

Man is not just a body

Man is not just a body, he is made of energy and waves. When you close your eyes and ask - Who am I? There is no answer, only emptiness is experienced. And this is your answer, that is you. When the soul leaves this body, the mind also leaves the body. The human body is the means where we can erase our old sanskars. The path of Nirvana shown by Buddha means - to sit and believe that I am no one, I am nothing. When this clarity comes, the mind becomes sharp and powerful like a laser beam. In such a mind, resolutions bear fruit quickly and the same mind also heals itself.

Our entire past is like a dream. Think a little, what have you done from this morning till now? Are they not all just memories now? Dreams are also memories. So look at your entire past as a dream. The future is also like that. You will do a lot in the next ten-twenty years, but ultimately everything will pass like a dream.

Past and Future
When we start understanding that both the past and the future are like dreams, then the inner sky starts opening up. Consciousness expands and a new dimension of life is visible. Spirituality also means that we should not consider life a burden. Let go of the habit of getting sad over small things. When there is clarity from within that I am eternal, then compassion becomes natural and service is natural. Service is no longer a duty, it springs from our nature. This is why a person who meditates is more tolerant, happier and more compassionate.

Being happy or joyful is not a future goal, but a state of the present moment. When we settle into this moment, a wonderful ease comes into life. The mind becomes calm and the heart is filled with love. This is true spirituality - living right here, right now, fully awake. So just stop, look inside yourself and wake up. Spirituality is not something of the other world, but it is the name of living this moment completely.
