NIRF Ranking 2025: IIT Madras tops overall, AIIMS Delhi No.1 in Medical & Agriculture

The NIRF Ranking 2025 has been released. IIT Madras retained the top spot in the overall category, while AIIMS Delhi emerged as the country’s best in medical and agriculture colleges.

 

The Union Education Ministry has released the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) Ranking 2025. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the ranking list at a program organized at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This year too, IIT Madras has secured the first position in the overall category. For the 10th time in a row, IIT Madras has become the best institute in the country. IIT Madras also maintained its supremacy in the engineering category. At the same time, Hindu College of Delhi University remained on top in the best college category. Like last year, this time too Hindu College secured the first position. In the year 2024, Hindu College had secured the top position by defeating Miranda House of DU and this year also it maintained this lead.

At the same time, Hindu College of Delhi University topped the Best College category for the second consecutive year. In the year 2024, Hindu College had beaten Miranda House of DU to secure the first position and this year also it maintained its lead.

Students and parents can check it on the official website nirfindia.org. This is the 10th edition of NIRF ranking. Now ranking in 17 categories Till last year (2024), rankings were released in 16 categories, which included Overall, University, College, Research Institute, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Dental, Law, Architecture and Planning, Agriculture and Allied Sector, Innovation, Open University, Skill University and State Public University. From this year, a new category Sustainability (SDG) has been added to it. In this way, now institutions will be ranked in a total of 17 categories.

How is the ranking decided

Five major parameters are adopted to evaluate the institutions and decide the ranking. Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, Perception, NIRF Ranking was started in the year 2016. Its objective is to give clear information to the students about the quality of higher education institutions and to promote healthy competition among the institutions.

Importance of Ranking

The aim of NIRF ranking is to help students choose quality higher education institutions. The ranking is based on parameters such as teaching, research, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusiveness.
