Yamaha’s reported R2, the Hero Karizma XMR 250, Triumph’s entry-level Bonneville and Bajaj’s first small adventure bike could give Indian buyers four very different choices in the coming months. Here is what each is expected to offer.
Motorcycle buyers planning a purchase around the 2026 festive season may want to wait a little longer. At least four closely watched models are in the final stages of testing or are expected to make their India debut in the coming months: the Yamaha YZF-R2, Hero Karizma XMR 250, Triumph Bonneville 400 and a new Bajaj adventure motorcycle.
These bikes target different riders, so the best choice will not necessarily be the one with the biggest engine. The Yamaha and Hero are aimed at sport-bike buyers, the Triumph promises classic styling and easy road manners, while the Bajaj could be the practical option for touring and the broken roads common across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Yamaha R2: the most exciting, but also the biggest unknown
The Yamaha R2 is expected to sit above the R15 and offer a more accessible alternative to the KTM RC 200. Reports indicate that Yamaha has scheduled an India event for August 27, although the company has not publicly confirmed the model’s name or specifications.
Its likely strengths are low weight, precise handling and full-faired R-series styling. However, buyers should wait for three crucial numbers: engine output, kerb weight and final price. If it costs close to ₹2.5 lakh, the value equation will depend heavily on whether its performance is a clear step above the R15.
Hero Karizma XMR 250: likely the strongest all-round sport bike
The production-ready Karizma XMR 250 has already been spotted testing. It is expected to borrow the 249cc liquid-cooled engine from the Xtreme 250R, which produces about 29.5 bhp and 25 Nm. A six-speed transmission, upside-down front fork and connected TFT display should make it more powerful and better equipped than the current Karizma XMR 210.
For riders who want one motorcycle for daily use, highway trips and occasional fast riding, this may be the model worth waiting for. Its main test will be refinement, pillion comfort and whether Hero can keep the price near ₹2 lakh.
Triumph Bonneville 400: retro style for less money
The motorcycle being referred to as the Bonneville 400 is expected to bring Triumph’s classic family look to a lower price point. Test bikes have shown a teardrop fuel tank, bench seat, wire-spoke wheels, twin rear shock absorbers and a conventional telescopic fork.
India may receive a 350cc-class version of Triumph’s single-cylinder platform, with reports suggesting roughly 29 PS and 31 Nm. It will not be the sportiest machine here, but it could appeal to buyers considering a Royal Enfield Classic 350 or Honda CB350 and wanting something lighter and more distinctive.
Bajaj Adventure: potentially the most practical for MPCG roads
Bajaj’s test motorcycle has the proportions of a road-focused adventure tourer, including a tall stance, beak-style front section and long-travel suspension. Reports suggest it could use the Pulsar N250’s 249cc air/oil-cooled engine, but the company has not confirmed the capacity or name.
If Bajaj combines comfortable ergonomics, a 19-inch front wheel, switchable or dual-channel ABS and a price below ₹2 lakh, it could become the most useful option for riders who regularly encounter uneven highways, village roads or long-distance routes.
Which bike should you wait for?
The Karizma XMR 250 currently looks like the best all-round choice on paper. Choose the Yamaha R2 if handling and supersport design matter most, the Triumph Bonneville for relaxed retro motoring, and the Bajaj Adventure for touring and rough-road usability.
Buyers who need a motorcycle immediately should not postpone a purchase solely on reported launch dates. Wait for official prices, take a test ride and compare the on-road cost, service reach, insurance and real-world comfort before booking.
