Ujjain Gears Up for Rare Sawan-Nag Panchami Coincidence, 8–10 Lakh Devotees Expected

A rare religious coincidence is set to draw an unprecedented number of devotees to Ujjain this year. On August 17, 2026, the third royal procession (Shahi Sawari) of Lord Mahakal and Nag Panchami will fall on the same day. The occasion will also mark the annual opening of the Nagchandreshwar Temple, which remains closed throughout the year except for 24 hours on Nag Panchami.
