A 16-year-old school student died by suicide on Tuesday after jumping from the Rajendra Nagar Metro Station in Delhi, triggering serious allegations of mental harassment against school staff. Police said a suicide note was recovered from the spot in which the boy stated that he was repeatedly humiliated by his teachers and urged authorities to ensure that “no other child suffers like him.” He also wrote that he wished to donate his body.
The incident occurred around 2:45 pm, shortly after the boy had returned from school. He was rushed to BLK Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His family, who lives in Rajendra Nagar, had travelled to Kolhapur the same morning for the mother’s medical treatment.
Based on the father’s complaint, police registered an FIR against four staff members, including the school principal and coordinator. The father alleged that the teachers had been mentally torturing his son for days and had ignored repeated complaints from the family. He said the boy often returned home distressed, claiming he was publicly scolded and pressured in class.
A classmate later told the family that one teacher had been threatening the student with a Transfer Certificate for four consecutive days and had allegedly pushed him. On November 18, when the student slipped in the classroom, the teacher reportedly dismissed it as “drama,” telling him to “cry as much as you want, I don’t care.” The father claimed the principal was in the room at the time but did not intervene.
Police said they are examining the allegations mentioned in the FIR and will record statements of students, staff, and witnesses. The school administration has not yet issued an official response. The investigation is underway.
