30-feet high slab collapses at thermal plant: 9 killed and 1 injured, exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined

On Tuesday evening, a slab fell from a height of 30 feet at the construction site of the Ennore Thermal Power Plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Nine workers were killed and one injured.

A high-rise iron structure was being constructed, and a portion of it fell on the workers standing below. The injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The cause of the slab collapse is yet to be determined.

Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO), visited the injured at the hospital. He stated that a steel arch fell at the Ennore Thermal Power Plant construction site. The workers were from Assam and nearby areas._plant in Chennai

Assam CM also tweeted

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "9 migrant workers from Assam have reportedly succumbed to death after falling down at a construction site at Minjur, Thiruvallur district, today while carrying out construction works for extension of North Chennai Thermal Power Station. 4 of the victims are from Karbi Anglong District and 5 from Hojai District. He further said, "We are coordinating with authorities in Tamil Nadu to bring back their mortal remains at the earliest."
