Mehbooba Mufti Criticises Centre Over Delhi Red Fort Blast, Highlights Kashmir Policy Failures

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday blamed the central government for the Red Fort blast on 10 November, saying the attack exposed the failure of its policies in Jammu and Kashmir and growing insecurity across the country.
Addressing the media, Mehbooba stated, “You told the world that everything is fine in Kashmir, but the troubles of Kashmir are echoing right in front of the Red Fort. You promised to make Jammu and Kashmir safe, but instead of fulfilling it, your policies have made Delhi unsafe.”
The blast occurred near the Red Fort metro station when Dr Umar, a resident of Pulwama, detonated explosives, killing 13 people and injuring over 20. Authorities from Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh police, along with NIA, NSG, and ED, are investigating the incident. So far, six doctors linked to the white-collar terror module have been arrested.
Mehbooba further criticised the politics surrounding religious divisions, stating, “By doing Hindu–Muslim politics, you may get votes, but in which direction is the country heading? People in Delhi may think the more Hindu–Muslim division there is, the more bloodshed will happen, and the more votes they will get. The country is far bigger than any chair of power.”
She also addressed the youth involved in such activities, warning them of the personal and societal risks. “I want to again tell the young people doing such things that what you are doing is wrong in every way. It is dangerous not only for you, but also for your family, for Jammu & Kashmir, and for the entire country. You are taking such a big risk because you are ruining the life of someone you love. The lives of many innocent people are at stake,” she said.
The PDP leader’s remarks underline the political backlash and scrutiny the government faces over security lapses, while investigations continue to trace the network behind the attack and prevent further incidents.
