AI-Powered ‘Bharat Bodhan AI Stack’ to Transform Education, UPI-Style Platform to Deliver Lectures on Mobile

The Union government is preparing to launch a national digital education platform, the Bharat Bodhan AI Stack, aimed at reshaping learning across India by using artificial intelligence to deliver personalised lectures on mobile devices. Modelled on the architecture of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), the platform is designed to provide seamless, scalable access to educational content for students from school to university level.

Officials said the platform will allow students to access lectures on any subject and topic in audio or video format, in their preferred language, while retaining the voice and teaching style of a selected instructor. Once a student asks a question, the system will generate a customised lecture instantly and enable interactive follow-up queries, offering real-time responses.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the platform mirrors the interoperability that transformed digital payments in India. “Just as multiple apps work on UPI, various education applications will function efficiently on the Bharat Bodhan AI Stack,” he said, adding that the initiative aims to democratise high-quality learning nationwide.

The platform will draw from a comprehensive academic repository, including NCERT and state board textbooks, and will align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). Officials said this alignment ensures consistency with national learning outcomes while allowing flexibility in delivery.

Beyond school education, Bharat Bodhan AI will support higher education, competitive exam preparation, skill development programmes, and research. Advanced features such as 3D laboratory simulations and AI-assisted academic research tools are also planned, expanding the platform’s use beyond conventional classroom learning.

The government recently used similar AI-based voice replication technology to broadcast the Union Budget speech in multiple languages while preserving the Finance Minister’s tone. Officials said this same technology will now be applied to education to ensure familiarity and engagement for learners.

The platform will be formally launched on February 12 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, alongside a Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave, where selected AI-driven education solutions will be showcased. The rollout will take place in phases to ensure accessibility, data security, and scalability across regions.

To support development and oversight, the Ministry of Education has set up a Centre of Excellence in AI in Education at IIT Madras, known as the IIT Madras Bodhan AI Foundation. The centre will lead research, testing, and nationwide implementation.

Officials expect the platform to become fully operational within two years, covering school education, higher studies, competitive examinations, and research. The initiative reflects the government’s broader push to combine technology with public infrastructure to make education more inclusive, flexible, and learner-centric.
