AQI level crosses 400 in Delhi

Air pollution in Delhi-NCR has been steadily increasing since Diwali. On Saturday, the AQI level in Anand Vihar, East Delhi, was recorded at 412, placing the pollution level in the severe category.

Air quality is poor in many areas, so water is being sprayed on the roads along Janpath Road to combat high levels of particulate matter.

Within just two days after Diwali, there was a nearly 30% increase in patients experiencing breathing difficulties, asthma attacks, and allergic bronchitis. Doctors have advised wearing masks.

Meanwhile, a low pressure area is developing in the Bay of Bengal. It is expected to intensify into a cyclone on October 27. The storm is expected to be named Montha, a Thai name meaning fragrant flower or beautiful flower.

The wind will blow at a speed of 110 kmph

The IMD says the depression over the Bay of Bengal will intensify into a storm, with winds of up to 110 kmph. This could bring heavy rainfall to Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Telangana.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, dropped to minus 2°C. However, there was no significant change in the maximum temperature.

Temperatures continued to drop in the plains of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. A thick layer of fog lingered near the Ganges ghats in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning.

Heavy rain alert for next 2 days in Tamil Nadu

The depression is likely to cause heavy rainfall at isolated places over Cuddalore, Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

The Meteorological Department says that due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, winds can blow at a speed of 35 to 45 kmph in Tamil Nadu, South Andhra Pradesh, Gulf of Mannar and Comorin.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea between October 25 and 27, 2025. Heavy rains yesterday also caused waterlogging at several places in Madurai.

With the northeast monsoon remaining active, the India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the coming days.

Heavy rain continues in Kerala

Heavy rains continued in parts of Kerala on Saturday, raising the water level in dams in Palakkad, Idukki and Thrissur districts.

The rains also caused landslides in rural areas of Thiruvananthapuram district, damaging houses.

The water level in the Walayar, Malampuzha, Moolathara and Chuliyar dams in Palakkad reached close to their maximum storage capacity, forcing the authorities to open the shutters by several centimetres.
