CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke Returns Home After Delhi Protest, Vows to Continue Campaign

Abhijeet Dipke claimed the Jantar Mantar demonstration was only a “trailer” and said further protests would follow if demands over alleged exam irregularities remain unaddressed.

Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), returned to his home in Maharashtra’s Waluj area on Sunday after leading a protest in New Delhi over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. Dipke said his campaign would continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan steps down, adding that another demonstration could be held on June 13 if the demands are not met.

Family members welcomed Dipke upon his arrival in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with garlands and traditional rituals. Later, he posted a message on social media thanking supporters and describing Saturday’s gathering at Jantar Mantar as a sign of what a united movement could achieve. He claimed around 7,000 people had participated in the protest, though independent verification of the turnout was not immediately available.

In a series of posts, Dipke said many participants had never joined a protest before and argued that the movement had given them confidence to express dissatisfaction over issues related to the education system. He maintained that peaceful demonstrations would remain the party’s principal strategy.

The protest was centred on demands for accountability following the NEET paper leak controversy and alleged irregularities in CBSE evaluation. Slogans calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were raised throughout the demonstration.

Protest Timeline

According to accounts shared by the organisation, Dipke arrived in Delhi from the United States on Saturday morning and proceeded to Jantar Mantar with CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka. He reportedly spent nearly five hours at the venue and addressed supporters five times during the event.

Organisers said the protest concluded after Dipke experienced health-related discomfort and left the venue in the afternoon. Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk was also present during the gathering.

Later, Dipke announced plans to interact with supporters through an Instagram Live session, although no specific timing was disclosed.

Questions Over Political Future

Political observers note that despite the rapid growth of CJP’s social media presence, the movement faces several organisational challenges. Analysts point to the need for converting online support into grassroots structures capable of sustaining political mobilisation.

Unlike earlier mass movements that relied on support from established organisations and volunteers, the CJP currently lacks an extensive cadre network. Experts say digital popularity alone may not necessarily translate into electoral influence.

Another challenge for the organisation is defining a focused agenda. While many supporters have expressed concerns over education-related issues, protests have also witnessed demands concerning taxation, infrastructure, corruption and governance. Observers believe the movement will need a clearer and more consistent policy framework if it intends to expand nationally.

Government Focuses on Reforms

While opposition parties and protest groups have sought accountability over the examination controversies, the government has indicated that its priority remains institutional reforms rather than leadership changes.

Political analysts also point out that ministerial resignations have been rare under the current administration unless direct allegations of wrongdoing are established. Speculation regarding possible Cabinet or organisational reshuffles within the BJP after mid-June has added another dimension to the debate, although no official announcement has been made.

Dipke launched the Cockroach Janata Party in May after remarks attributed to Chief Justice Surya Kant sparked controversy online. Within days, the movement gained significant traction on social media, attracting millions of followers and positioning itself around demands for greater transparency and accountability in the education system.
