The special thing was that Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also participated in the Dalai Lama's program. Rijiju's visit on Friday comes at a time when a few days ago Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama had revealed the plan for his successor (reincarnation), to which China had reacted strongly. A day before this visit of Union Minister Rijiju, China had advised India to be cautious on issues related to Tibet. China had said that this could affect the efforts to improve India-China relations.

Recently, the Dalai Lama had said that his successor will be chosen by the Gaden Phodrang Trust established in India, which he himself has created. He made it clear that no other institution or country has the right to interfere in this.

This statement is being considered a direct message to China, as China has been continuously claiming that the successor of the Dalai Lama should be chosen with the approval of Beijing.
