Delhi Karkardooma court rejects 500-page bail plea

A Delhi court on Friday rejected the bail plea of an accused in a rape case, noting that the petition filed by the defence lawyer was 500 pages long. The court remarked that it was “too large and bulky.”

Additional Sessions Judge Ramesh Kumar-II, while dismissing the bail plea, said that it was not possible to go through the same document again as it was too lengthy.

The court advised the counsel to file a shorter petition and granted permission to submit a new one. The accused has been booked in a rape case registered at Kalyanpuri police station.

Judge says court already burdened with cases

Additional Sessions Judge Ramesh Kumar, in his October 17 order, said that the bail documents were excessively long. The court is already burdened with pending cases, the judge noted.

He added that the applicant’s plea was “too lengthy and bulky,” and reading it would waste the court’s valuable time. Hence, the application was dismissed.
