Flood Havoc: Train Services Hit in Assam, Critical Situation in Arunachal

Devastating floods have disrupted train services in Assam and created a critical situation in Arunachal Pradesh, claiming 12 lives. Relief efforts are underway as water levels continue to rise.

The flood situation in Assam improved on Thursday, although more than 5.6 lakh people are affected by floods in 12 districts. Two more people have lost their lives. Till Wednesday, 6.8 lakh people were affected by floods in 16 districts of the state.

Train services affected in various parts

According to the report of Assam State Disaster Management Authority, the number of people who lost their lives in floods and landslides in the state this year has gone up to 21. Sribhumi is the worst affected district, where more than 2.15 lakh people are affected. Train services have been affected in various parts. Short distance trains have been canceled, but long distance trains are running.


Kaziranga National Park also submerged

Kaziranga National Park is also submerged. The flood situation in Manipur has also improved. The water in the rivers has started decreasing. Assam Rifles and Army continued rescue and relief operations under Operation Jalrahat across the state. Floods have affected more than 1.65 lakh people in the state.

Flood situation grim in Arunachal

The flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh remained grim on Thursday. More than 33 thousand people have been affected in 24 districts of Arunachal due to continuous rains. This year 12 people have lost their lives due to landslides and floods. Landslides have occurred in various districts in the last 24 hours.

The port said that a population of 33,200 in 214 villages of various districts has been affected due to floods and landslides, while most of the major rivers and their tributaries are in spate, although these rivers are flowing below their normal water level.
