Microsoft Student Society, UEM Kolkata, in Association with Kolkata International Blockchain Association, Hosts Two-Day CHAINSPHERE Event on Blockchain and AI

The Microsoft Student Society of the University of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, in association with the Kolkata International Blockchain Association (KIBA), successfully organized a two-day flagship event titled CHAINSPHERE on January 22 and January 24, 2026. The event focused on Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and other emerging technologies, aiming to bridge academic learning with industry-driven innovation.
The event commenced on January 22 with a No-Code AI Competition, where students presented innovative, AI-powered solutions developed without traditional programming. The competition highlighted the rapid adoption of accessible AI tools and encouraged creative problem-solving among young technologists.
The second day, held on January 24, featured an in-depth Blockchain Workshop followed by an interactive quiz session. These sessions were designed to strengthen participants’ practical understanding of blockchain and Web3 technologies while creating awareness about career opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.
The highlight of the workshop was the keynote address by Kalyanjit Hatibaruah, Chairman of the Flugelsoft Group and Advisory Board Member of KIBA, who attended as the Chief Guest Speaker. With over 25 years of experience in emerging technologies such as Blockchain, Web3, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Transformation, Mr. Hatibaruah shared valuable insights on future technology trends and career pathways. He is also a Visiting Faculty at the New Delhi Institute of Management, a mentor at IIT Madras (Nirmaan) and IIM Kozhikode, and is actively associated with innovation platforms such as T-Hub, STPI, and India Accelerator. He also serves as a jury member for several institutional and government hackathons across the country.
The event further featured expert sessions by Rittik Das, Founder of FilmFinance.App; Sweta Karar, Blockchain Engineer at Hacken; and Soumik Bakshi, AI Engineer at Payram. The speakers shared industry perspectives on real-world blockchain applications, AI innovation, and practical use cases.
Prince Choudhury, President of KIBA, along with Vice President Mukoot Ali, were present at the event. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Choudhury stated that the Kolkata International Blockchain Association remains committed to collaborating with academic institutions, organizations, and government bodies to transform Kolkata into the Blockchain Hub of India.
The event was successfully coordinated by Snehasish Das, Dipanjali Dutta, Praneet Singh, and Priyanshu Mitra from the Microsoft Student Society, UEM Kolkata.
