Modi Calls Satya Sai Baba’s Centenary a “Divine Boon,” Unveils Commemorative Coin and Stamp

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday described the centenary year of Satya Sai Baba as a “divine blessing” for the nation, as he joined thousands of devotees at the spiritual leader’s birth anniversary celebrations in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. The event, held at the Prasanthi Nilayam ashram, drew prominent personalities including actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Addressing the gathering, Modi said Satya Sai Baba’s message of compassion, service, and universal love continued to inspire people across generations. “Even though he is not physically among us, his teachings remain a guiding force for crores across the world,” the Prime Minister said. He added that the impact of the spiritual leader’s work was “clearly visible in society today.”

Earlier in the morning, Modi visited the temple and Mahasamadhi of Satya Sai Baba, offering floral tributes. He was received by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who were present for the ceremony.

Marking the occasion, the Prime Minister released a ₹100 commemorative coin and a ₹100 postage stamp dedicated to the centenary year. The ashram administration said the commemorative releases were meant to honour Satya Sai Baba’s global humanitarian legacy, which includes educational institutions, hospitals, and community welfare projects.

The centenary celebration witnessed cultural performances, devotional music, and special prayers, with thousands of devotees arriving from across India and abroad.

Following the event, Modi is scheduled to travel to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where he will inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 at 1:30 pm. He will also release the 21st instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme and address farmers and stakeholders attending the summit.

The twin visits underline the government’s focus on both cultural outreach and agricultural priorities, as the Prime Minister continues a packed week of public engagements.
