New governors of Haryana, Goa appointed, Kavinder Gupta appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh

Rashtrapati Bhavan has announced the appointment of new governors and lieutenant governors for three major states and union territories of the country.

Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju has been appointed as the new Governor of Goa. At the same time, Professor Asim Kumar Ghosh has been appointed the Governor of Haryana. Apart from this, Kavinder Gupta has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. These appointments will come into effect with immediate effect.

Who are these new governors and lieutenant governors?

Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju has been the former Union Minister of Civil Aviation. He was elected seven times as a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1978 to 2004 and from 2009 to 2014.

He served as a minister for 13 years in departments such as commercial tax, excise, legislative affairs, finance, planning and revenue.

He is the younger son of Pusapati Vijayarama Gajapati Raju, the last Maharaja of Vizianagaram and is famous for his family's philanthropic activities, especially the Simhachalam temple and educational institutions in Vizianagaram. He is interested in public health, water conservation, and power conservation.

He has promoted housing, drinking water, and health schemes in Andhra Pradesh. Now he has been appointed as the Governor of Goa.

Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh is from Howrah West Bengal. He has been the Chief of West Bengal BJP and has also contested elections on BJP ticket.

Kavinder Gupta is the former Deputy CM of Jammu Kashmir. He has also been the former President of Jammu Kashmir BJP. Now he has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
