Modi government's 'Operation Shield' has been postponed. The central government will soon announce the new date of 'Operation Shield'. The central government has decided to postpone the civil defense exercise 'Operation Shield' proposed on Thursday, May 29, for administrative reasons. In this regard, all civil defense controllers and related departments have been asked to issue instructions. The government order states that all concerned officials and stakeholders should be informed that Operation Shield Civil Defense Exercise has been postponed till further notice.

Actually, as per the instructions of the Home Ministry, mock drills were to be held on May 29 from 5 pm in many districts of Pakistan's border states Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Union Territories including Chandigarh. Gujarat Information Department and Rajasthan Home Department have also officially confirmed the postponement of the mock drill. On the other hand, the Chandigarh administration has clarified that now there will be no blackout or mock drill on Thursday.

Let us tell you that under this exercise, mock drills of air strike, blackout, emergency exit and medical help were to be done, so that the preparedness of civil and administrative response could be checked during disaster. The participation of civil security wardens, local administration employees and youth volunteers like NCC, NSS, NYKS, Bharat Scouts and Guides was proposed in the mock drill to be held under 'Operation Shield'. Also, it was being considered important for the purpose of making citizens aware of emergency situations, so that they can help the civil administration in different tasks.

In many districts of the country, a blackout was to be done in civilian areas (except essential services) from 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm on Thursday. Publicity was to be done for this, but now this process will not happen.
