The Opposition has nominated former Supreme Court judge B. Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate for the Vice Presidential election. He will contest against NDA’s nominee, C.P. Radhakrishnan, in a high-profile political battle.

The opposition (India Alliance) has declared its candidate for the Vice Presidential election. The opposition has made former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy its candidate. Reddy's name has been announced by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Reddy will contest against NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan. NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan comes from Tamil Nadu. India Alliance candidate B Sudarshan Reddy is from Andhra Pradesh. With the name of the opposition, it has become clear that the Vice Presidential election will be South Vs South.

According to Kharge, after talks with all the opposition parties, the decision has been taken on the name of Sudarshan Reddy. Aam Aadmi Party has also supported Reddy's name.

B Sudarshan Reddy has been a Supreme Court judge from 2007 to 2011. Born in 1946, Sudarshan Reddy's early education was in Andhra. Reddy obtained a law degree from Osmania University. After this, he started working under the famous lawyer K Pratap Reddy.

In August 1988, Reddy was appointed government lawyer in the High Court. In 1993, Reddy was appointed Additional Judge of Andhra Pradesh. In 2005, Reddy was made the Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court. In 2007, Reddy reached the Supreme Court. In 2013, Reddy was appointed Lokayukta of Goa.

Consensus not reached with the government
The government tried to reach a consensus on the name of the Vice President, but the matter could not be reached. NDA had announced the name of CP Radhakrishnan 2 days ago. After this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was given the responsibility of talking to all the parties. Before B Sudarshan Reddy, the name of DMK's Tiruchi Siva was also being discussed in political circles, but India Alliance has decided to make Sudarshan, who comes from Telangana, the Vice Presidential candidate.
