Red Fort Security Breach: 7 Cops Suspended

Major lapse at Red Fort as dummy bomb goes undetected during drill; 7 policemen suspended for negligence.

A case of serious lapse in the security of Red Fort has come to light in the capital of Delhi before 15 August (Independence Day), as a result of which 7 policemen, including constables and head constables, have been suspended. Delhi Police said that a team of Special Cell conducted an exercise on Saturday, in which they entered the Red Fort premises with a dummy bomb in civil dress. During this, the policemen deployed in the security did not detect the bomb, which exposed their negligence.

According to Deputy Commissioner Raja Banthia, this mock drill was organized to check the security arrangements before 15 August. However, the team's easy access inside the fort raises serious questions on the security system. This situation is even more worrying because the Prime Minister addresses the country from the ramparts of the Red Fort every year, which is attended by a large number of dignitaries and citizens.

Panic in police and security agencies

There is panic in police and security agencies after this matter came to light. The Deputy Commissioner has instructed the concerned officials to immediately review the security arrangements and make a new plan. Along with this, orders have also been given to tighten the security cordon, re-ensure the deployment of employees and use modern technical resources.

Red Fort on the target of terrorists

The Red Fort is always on the target of terrorists and anti-social elements, due to which the capital is kept on high alert during national festivals like Independence Day. Any kind of lapse can pose a serious threat to national security. Currently, along with suspension, departmental inquiry is also going on against the policemen.

Attempt to forcibly enter the Red Fort

Delhi Police has arrested five Bangladeshi citizens trying to enter the Red Fort premises illegally. Their age is around 20 to 25 years and they work as laborers in Delhi. Police have also recovered some Bangladeshi documents from them. Currently, they are being interrogated.
