The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marks a historic milestone as it enters its centenary year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release a special commemorative postage stamp and coin today at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi, starting at 10:30 AM. This event underscores the RSS's enduring contributions to India's national identity and self-reliance, especially during the pre-independence era.
PM Modi, a former RSS Pracharak, recently lauded the organization's "amazing, unprecedented, and inspiring" 100-year journey in his September 28 'Mann Ki Baat' address. He highlighted how the RSS has fostered national pride and confidence among Indians.
The centenary celebrations officially begin tomorrow on Dussehra (October 2, 2025), launching a year-long series of programs extending until October 20, 2026. Seven key initiatives will roll out across India, engaging communities at grassroots levels:
- Vijayadashami Festival: Uniformed volunteers and families participate at local and Mandal levels, including Mahalaya events in Bengal.
- Home Contact Campaign: Volunteers deliver 15-minute sessions on RSS history to households over three weeks.
- Public Meetings: Dialogues with labor unions, auto drivers, and intellectuals.
- Hindu Conferences: City- and block-level gatherings connecting diverse social groups, reminiscent of 1989 and 2006 events.
- Harmony Meetings: Month-long collaborations with social workers, organizations, and saints.
- Youth Conferences: Activities for ages 15-40, including sports to inspire the next generation.
- Shakha Expansion: Nationwide one-week drive to boost morning and evening Shakhas.
RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, who attended a grand march in Nagpur on September 28, may join international programs in America and Europe.
In Nagpur, former President Ram Nath Kovind will grace the Dussehra event as Chief Guest on October 2 – a rare honor, following Pranab Mukherjee's 2018 appearance.
These RSS 100 years celebrations aim to strengthen societal bonds and promote cultural unity, reflecting the organization's legacy of service and discipline.
