Season's 1st snowfall: Kedarnath and Badrinath,Rain alert for Punjab-Haryana

The Weather forecast department has reported snowfall in higher elevations of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand experienced their first snowfall of the season, with Hemkund Sahib recording 2-3 inches. Temperatures in Kedarnath dropped to 5°C. The IMD has issued a Red Alert for heavy rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand on October 7.
The second phase of the Char Dham Yatra is ongoing, with more than 5,000 pilgrims arriving daily despite adverse weather conditions. Snowfall was also reported in Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, and Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh, and rain and snowfall are expected to continue for the next two days.
Meanwhile, an Orange Alert has been issued for Punjab and Haryana, where continuous rainfall is expected for the next 36 hours. In Punjab, rain is forecast in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Ferozepur, while heavy rain warnings cover Ambala, Panchkula, Kaithal, Karnal, and Hisar in Haryana. Weather is expected to improve by October 8.
