Standardisation, Compliance and Collaboration: Key to MSME Growth, Say Leaders at BIS–IIA Industry Meet Hosted by BIS

Industry experts, policymakers and financial leaders deliberate on quality standards, liquidity challenges and sustainability roadmap for MSMEs in a compliance-driven economy
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in association with the Indian Industries Association (IIA) – Delhi State, organised the BIS–IIA Delhi State Industry Meet at Crowne Plaza, Rohini, focusing on the importance of standardisation, stakeholder awareness and MSME preparedness in a compliance-driven global economy.
The event was held under the leadership of R.R. Singh, Senior Director & Head, DLBO-I, BIS, and Dr. Mamtamayi Priyadarshini, successful entrepreneur, environmentalist and State Chairperson, IIA Delhi State, who strengthened collaboration between BIS and industry stakeholders to promote quality consciousness among MSMEs.
The programme began with ceremonial lamp lighting by dignitaries from BIS, IIA and the MSME Department, Government of India.
In his inaugural address, R.R. Singh emphasized the importance of quality standards in strengthening India’s industrial ecosystem and enhancing global competitiveness. This was followed by an address by Dr. R.K. Bharti, who highlighted government initiatives supporting MSMEs and BIS’s role in ensuring product quality, safety and international credibility. Dr. Mamtamayi Priyadarshini, successful entrepreneur and State Chairperson, IIA Delhi State, emphasized that awareness leads to compliance and compliance drives competitiveness, urging MSMEs to view standardisation as a strategic growth tool.
Technical sessions included an overview of BIS activities by Sachin Singh Naruka, Deputy Director, and a detailed presentation on the BIS Certification Process and new initiatives by Shivam Aggarwal, Deputy Director. A video presentation showcased recent BIS initiatives and digital resources available to stakeholders. The programme also featured an interactive feedback session and experience sharing by industry participants.
The second session commenced with a Jal Sanrakshan activity symbolising environmental responsibility. A panel discussion on “MSME Liquidity & Growth in 2026” was moderated by CA Jitender Kumar Jain and featured CA Manish Gupta, CA H.K. Gupta, Dr. L.K. Pandey and Dr. (Prof.) Saket Chatopadhyay (AIC-JNUFI), deliberating on financial readiness, working capital challenges, TReDS, rural gaps and startup–MSME collaboration.
Special sessions included Lean Excellence in Manufacturing by Kamal Singla; Choosing the Right Business & Banking Partner by Madhukar Sahay; and industry innovation insights by Rishabh Gupta and Anup Kumar. The Convenor of the Young Entrepreneurs Cell, Rishabh Agrawal, was also announced.
Distinguished presence included CEPA representative Haa, BIS official Rahul Raj and IIA office bearers Neeraj Bajaj, Mrigendra Kumar, Charanjeet Singh, Jatin Sharma, Manish Chawla, Mohan Kumar Nirwan and Pankaj Pathak, along with other esteemed guests and MSME representatives.
The BIS–IIA Industry Meet reaffirmed that sustainable MSME growth in 2026 will depend not merely on liquidity and reforms, but on strong standardisation, compliance awareness, sustainability and institutional collaboration.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by IIA CEC Member Dr. L.K. Pandey, followed by the National Anthem.
