Under the package, each MLA will receive ₹75,000 per month towards driver salary and vehicle-related expenses, while an additional ₹25,000 per month will be provided for hiring an assistant for the MLA's office. The measures are intended to help legislators travel regularly to their constituencies and respond to public issues.

Cars For All MLAs

Vijay said legislators need reliable transport to travel across their constituencies and remain accessible to residents. The decision follows a request raised in the Assembly for better logistical facilities for elected representatives.

The state government has already been increasing its public-service vehicle fleet, with the Chief Minister's Office announcing in May the launch of 40 new government vehicles worth ₹2.90 crore for public-service operations.

Tamil Nadu will also establish a 400-bed multi-speciality hospital in Perambalur at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore.

The proposed facility is intended to expand access to advanced medical treatment and strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the district. The investment comes alongside the government's broader focus on increasing medical education capacity and specialist healthcare availability.

Insurance Cover To Rise

Another major announcement involves the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. The government has proposed increasing the annual treatment coverage from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh.

The expanded coverage is expected to provide greater financial protection to beneficiaries requiring costly medical procedures and treatment.

The government has also proposed additional medical and surgical services for transgender persons at government hospitals in Chennai, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Chengalpattu, Thiruvarur, Karur and Kanyakumari.
