Uproar in Lok Sabha as 3 bills introduced

Opposition protests, tears copy of bill; provision states PM, CM or minister to lose chair if arrested or detained for 30 days.

PM-CM & Minister Removal Bill: Modi government has introduced three bills in Lok Sabha including Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill 2025 and 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill 2025. Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced all three bills in the Lok Sabha. There was a lot of uproar in the Lok Sabha against all three bills. The opposition tore the copy of the bill demanding withdrawal of all three bills. Grace and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi protested. SP called the bills anti-justice, anti-constitution. On this, Shah talked about sending all three bills to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).

Due to heavy uproar by the opposition, Speaker Om Birla has adjourned the proceedings of the Lok Sabha till 3 pm. Now the proceedings of the House will begin at 3 pm. However, it is clear from the attitude of the opposition that it will again create a ruckus after the proceedings begin.

On the other hand, Home Minister Amit Shah said on the allegations of the opposition that when I went to jail in a false case, I resigned from my post on moral grounds. We are not so shameless. I want these moral values to increase. Amit Shah introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha which provide for the removal of PM, CM and ministers from their posts in case of arrest for more than 30 days. He proposed to send these three bills to JPC.

There are provisions in these bills that if the Prime Minister, Chief Minister or Minister is arrested in such serious crimes, which can result in a minimum of 5 years of imprisonment and he is kept in custody for 30 consecutive days, then he will be removed from his post on the 31st day. Delhi CM Kejriwal did not resign from his post for 6 months and Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji did not resign after being in custody and jail for 241 days. Kejriwal was the first CM to be arrested while in office.

Bill being brought in haste

The bill to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and Ministers from their posts if they go to jail is going to come in the Lok Sabha. Home Minister Amit Shah will present this bill in the Lok Sabha. Asaduddin Owaisi, Manish Tiwari and NK Premachandran opposed this bill from the opposition. NK Premachandran said that this bill has been brought in haste. This is being brought to destabilize the opposition governments. On this statement of NK Premachandran, Amit Shah said that we are going to propose to send this bill to the parliamentary committee.
