Book on Rani Durgawati by Pravin Anand Celebrates Her Courage and Legacy

Pravin Anand’s 2025 release “Rani Durgawati – Who Never Lost a War, Till She Was Alive” offers a detailed account of the legendary queen’s life and heroism.

Pravin Anand, Deputy Commissioner in the Rural Development Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, has made remarkable contributions both in public service and literature. Born in Kanpur, he completed most of his schooling and higher education there before pursuing an MBA from the Motilal Nehru Institute of Research and Business Administration (MONIRBA), Prayagraj.

Anand began his literary journey with inspiring stories such as “Mukta” and “Meri Saheli”. His debut book, “I Love You More Than Anyone Else” (2013), was warmly received by readers. In 2014, he published the novel “Mars, Love and Breakups”, followed by “Mumtaz and Taj Mahal” (2018) and “Acid – Why I Was Acid Attacked” (2024), both of which became bestsellers on Amazon Kindle.

His latest work, “Rani Durgawati – Who Never Lost a War, Till She Was Alive” (2025), is being hailed as one of the most comprehensive accounts of the queen’s life and valor.

Portraying Rani Durgawati’s Bravery and Leadership
The book vividly portrays the courage, leadership, and indomitable spirit of Rani Durgawati, the Princess of Kalinjar and daughter of King Kirtivardhan Singh. Anand brings to life the historical events surrounding Kalinjar, the site where Sher Shah Suri died while attempting to capture the fort.

After the death of her husband, Rani Durgawati defied the tradition of Sati. She assumed control of the Garha Katanga kingdom (modern-day Jabalpur and surrounding areas) and ruled with wisdom and courage. Despite pressures from the Mughal Empire under Emperor Akbar, she never surrendered.

A Legacy of Victories
Rani Durgawati fought 52 battles, winning 51 of them. On 24 June 1564, in her final battle, she chose self-sacrifice over captivity, ending her life with a dagger to protect her honor and sovereignty.

In recognition of her unparalleled bravery, the Government of India celebrated 2024 as the 500th birth anniversary of Rani Durgawati, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the event in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh.

Anand’s book not only brings history to life but also serves as a source of inspiration for youth and history enthusiasts alike.
