Om Birla: Women’s leadership key to developed India by 2047

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized that India can become developed by 2047 through women’s leadership and stressed the importance of women’s economic independence for a self-reliant nation.
The first national conference of the Women Empowerment Committees of Parliament and States was inaugurated in Tirupati. Om Birla termed it historic and said that women are now the carriers of social and economic change. More than 20 states are participating in the conference on the topic of women-led development for developed India. Om Birla said that women's economic independence is important for a self-reliant India.
Women empowerment in the country got a new dimension when the first national conference of the Women Empowerment Committees of Parliament and States / Union Territories was inaugurated in Tirupati, the holy land of faith. Inaugurating the conference, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla called it a historic occasion and said that women are no longer only beneficiaries but are the carriers of social, economic change in the country. The country will become a developed nation only when Nari Shakti will develop.
Let us tell you that the Women Empowerment Committee of Parliament was formed in 1997 and many assemblies have also formed these committees, but for the first time in nearly three decades, the central and state committees are sitting together and discussing women's issues.
Women-led development for developed India
The theme of the conference is Women-led development for developed India and more than twenty states are participating in it. On this occasion, Om Birla said that the Parliamentary Committee used to talk about issues related to the states earlier also, but the objective of this conference is to give an inclusive form to women empowerment in the country so that every daughter studies, every woman progresses. It has brought together MPs, policy makers and women leaders from across the country and provided an opportunity to collectively decide the strategy. The role and secure future of women will determine the pace and form of national progress.
Women's economic independence is important for self-reliant India - Om Birla
Referring to the vision of the Prime Minister, Birla said that ensuring economic independence of every woman is very important for achieving self-reliant India and developed India.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh proposed on this occasion that every session of the two-day conference should be given an opportunity to lead Nari Shakti, which was announced by the Lok Sabha Speaker from the stage. In the program, Dr. D. Purandeswari, Chairperson of the Parliament's Women Empowerment Committee, informed about the steps being taken for the development of women. Before the conference began, the Lok Sabha Speaker offered prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala.
