The BJP may elect new state presidents in the remaining states during Navratri, which begins on Monday. A meeting of senior BJP and RSS leaders late Wednesday evening agreed to expedite the process of electing new state presidents. New state presidents have yet to be elected in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Mumbai, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tripura.
According to highly placed sources, a meeting was held late Wednesday night at 11 Ashoka Road, the former BJP headquarters. The main focus of the meeting was completing the BJP's organizational election process. Present at the meeting were RSS and BJP influencer Arun Kumar, party national president JP Nadda, general secretary (organization) BL Santosh, and several other leaders.
State presidents likely to be announced by September 25-26
It is reported that a day before, on Tuesday, a long meeting took place between JP Nadda and Amit Shah regarding organizational elections. In view of the Pitru Paksha (the Hindu month of Pitru Paksha), it was decided to begin the organizational election process from Monday after Sunday. According to them, four or five state presidents may also be announced by September 25-26.
The election of the national president was also discussed
It is reported that the election of a new national president was also discussed in the meeting, but it was decided to leave it to the top leadership. Given the Bihar assembly elections in November, the election of a new national president is most likely to take place after that. However, a senior leader stated that the election of the national president has nothing to do with the Bihar assembly elections. The party could also begin the process of electing a new national president in the meantime.
