Himachal Governor Honours 32 Teachers With State Awards, Highlights Value-Based Education for Viksit Bharat 2047

At a Teachers’ Day function in Shimla, Governor Kavinder Gupta honoured 32 teachers with state awards and stressed the role of quality, inclusive and value-based education in building a developed India.
Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta conferred State Teachers’ Awards on 32 teachers at a state-level Teachers’ Day function held at Lok Bhavan, Shimla, recognising their contribution to improving education and student development. One teacher was also honoured with the National Award for the year 2025.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said teachers play a crucial role not only in academic learning but also in shaping students’ values, confidence and character. He emphasised that quality and value-based education would remain important for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Gupta said that while technology and artificial intelligence can support the teaching process, they cannot replace the guidance, emotional support and values provided by teachers inside classrooms.
The Governor highlighted the importance of education that focuses on knowledge, skills, creativity, innovation, research and character building. He also referred to the role of teachers, parents and students in strengthening the education system.
The award ceremony recognised teachers from different categories, including school education, special categories, college faculty and technical education. The awardees were selected based on their contribution to improving learning outcomes, student impact and implementation of educational initiatives.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur said Himachal Pradesh has made progress in the education sector and highlighted initiatives taken by the state government, including recruitment in the Education Department and measures aimed at improving teaching standards.
Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani congratulated the award-winning teachers and suggested that their successful teaching practices should be documented and shared so that other educators could benefit from their experiences.
The Governor also noted the importance of youth participation and strong educational foundations in achieving national development goals. He said classrooms play a key role in shaping the future of the country.
The event was attended by senior officials from the education department and other dignitaries. The state-level celebration also included cultural performances by students
