Akhilesh Yadav Accuses ‘Double Engine’ Government of Peddling Alcohol and Drugs in Chhattisgarh

Back from his Odisha tour, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav sharply criticized the BJP government in Chhattisgarh, alleging that the so-called “double engine” administration has one “engine” distributing alcohol and the other supplying cannabis.
Without naming individuals, Yadav described BJP leaders as being “operated by a remote” and responded to remarks made by Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
On Wealth and Governance
Akhilesh Yadav stated, “With Wi-Fi technology, wireless systems naturally operate with a remote. In regions with immense wealth, the BJP keeps the remote. I recently visited a neighboring state under a double engine government—one engine deals in alcohol, the other in cannabis. Even in Uttar Pradesh, under a double engine administration, alcohol and drugs are seized daily.”
Criticism of Deputy CM Vijay Sharma
Addressing Sharma’s comment that the BJP “steals the hearts of the people,” Yadav countered, “If the BJP truly steals hearts, why couldn’t it in Ayodhya? You are mistaken. You are treating poor and farming communities unfairly regarding their land. Shops of backward and Dalit communities were demolished, which is why Lord Ram did not bless them in Ayodhya.”
Yadav’s remarks underscore his continued critique of the BJP’s governance approach and its alleged mismanagement of social and economic matters in states it rules.
