Amit Shah to Chair Eastern Zonal Council Meet in Ranchi

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will preside over the 27th Eastern Zonal Council meeting in Ranchi. The event will see participation from CMs, Deputy CMs, and Home Secretaries of northeastern states to discuss key regional issues.

An important meeting of the two-day 27th Eastern Zonal Council is being held in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, from today (9 and 10 July). Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself will chair this important meeting. For this, he will be on a two-day visit to Ranchi. This meeting to be held in Ranchi is also considered very important in terms of many big decisions and dialogue.

A total of more than 68 representatives from the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha will attend the meeting. High level officials like Chief Ministers, Home Secretaries, Chief Secretaries, DGPs and Finance Ministers of the states will participate in it.

Serious issues like Naxalism, inter-state cooperation, security and development of border areas will be discussed in this meeting. Along with this, there is a possibility of talks between Bihar and Jharkhand regarding the distribution of pending assets and the financial share received by the states from the Center.

Jharkhand is likely to strongly raise issues like pending payments of Rs 1.36 lakh crore, state's share in GST, and timely payment of share in centrally sponsored schemes against the central government.

In the absence of Chief Minister Hemant Soren from Jharkhand, the state will be represented by Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, Chief Secretary and DGP in the program. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi will attend the meeting. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Minister Vijay Choudhary will attend. The presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has not been confirmed yet.
