BJP Introduces Ministerial Duty Roster to Address Workers’ Grievances at State Office

In a bid to streamline grievance redressal for party workers, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh has introduced a structured duty roster requiring ministers to be available at the party’s state office on a fixed schedule. Under the new arrangement, one or more ministers will meet party workers daily for two hours, from Monday to Friday, between 1 pm and 3 pm.
The initiative has been launched by BJP State President Hemant Khandelwal and comes amid repeated complaints from party workers who, despite the BJP being in continuous power, often struggle to get access to ministers and senior officials to resolve organisational and administrative issues.
According to party officials, a detailed duty roster for the month of February has been finalised and circulated. The schedule specifies which ministers and senior party office-bearers will be present at the BJP state office on each working day to listen to grievances and facilitate solutions.
Under the plan, a state-level party official will also be present alongside the minister on duty. This official will coordinate follow-up action, liaise with the government departments concerned, and assist in resolving issues raised by workers during the interaction.
The February roster includes senior cabinet members, ministers of state, deputy chief ministers, and party office-bearers. Among those assigned duties are Deputy Chief Ministers Jagdish Deora and Rajendra Shukla, Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Panchayat Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah, and Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, among others. Each day also features designated state vice presidents or secretaries of the party to ensure organisational continuity.
Party sources said the move is aimed at reducing the need for workers to repeatedly visit ministers’ residences or offices. “This system brings accountability and accessibility. Workers know exactly whom to approach and when,” a senior BJP leader said, adding that the initiative is intended to strengthen internal communication ahead of upcoming political and organisational challenges.
The model is also being extended to the district level. As per instructions from the state president, BJP district units are finalising fixed days for district office-bearers to sit at district offices. Separate schedules are being prepared to ensure that district presidents and other key functionaries are available on designated days to hear grievances from both party workers and the general public.
The party leadership believes the structured approach will help identify grassroots issues more effectively, improve coordination between the organisation and the government, and reinforce discipline within the party’s administrative framework.
If found effective, the arrangement may be continued beyond February and institutionalised as a regular mechanism within the party structure.
