BJP Targets Congress Over Pawan Kheda’s Two Voter IDs

After Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of vote theft, BJP hit back claiming Congress leader Pawan Kheda holds two voter cards, intensifying the political tussle.

The Congress party, which is constantly cornering the BJP and the Election Commission on the issue of SIR, may now be cornered on this issue itself. In fact, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya has released two different voter ID lists and accused senior Congress leader Pawan Khera of having two voter IDs.

Amit Malviya has said that on one hand Rahul Gandhi is loudly raising the slogan of 'vote theft'. But Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, who does not miss any opportunity to show his closeness to the Gandhi family, has two active EPIC numbers. One of these EPIC numbers is of Jangpura and the other of New Delhi assembly constituency, which come under East Delhi and New Delhi Lok Sabha seats respectively.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also raised questions

BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said, "For the last few days, the country is seeing that Rahul Gandhi goes to every corner of the country and calls common citizens liars and thieves… Pawan Khera, media head of Rahul Gandhi's Congress party, has two EPIC numbers (voter identity cards)… Rahul Gandhi's close associates are involved in vote rigging. According to Section 62, subsection 2 of the Representation of the People Act 1951, no person can vote in more than one assembly constituency… Now I want to ask Rahul Gandhi, will he accept that the real 'thief' is Pawan Khera?"

Pawan Khera's response to the allegations

Pawan Khera has hit back at Amit Malviya's allegations. Pawan Khera said that the Congress party is saying exactly this. We are raising the same question about the functioning of the Election Commission. This list is available with the BJP leaders as well as the Election Commission. The Congress repeatedly asks for the list, but never gets it. I want to know from the Election Commission who is being forced to vote in my name from New Delhi Assembly Constituency. I want CCTV footage. I moved from there in 2016. I followed the process of getting my name removed from there. But why is my name still there?

This is what Rahul Gandhi has been continuously challenging since August 7… There are hundreds and thousands of such names in every assembly constituency, which are being misused… Under SIR, they are legalizing such mistakes. That is why we are opposing SIR because it is happening right now…
