Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar dismissed talks of him becoming the Chief Minister, stating there's no such possibility. The statement comes as a positive signal for CM Siddaramaiah's continued leadership.
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar himself has dismissed speculations of leadership change. He said that at present there is no plan to change the cabinet. Let us tell you that after the completion of two and a half years of the Congress government in Karnataka, speculations of DK Shivakumar becoming the Chief Minister started.
MLAs close to him were making such claims every day. But now Shivakumar has termed these as media speculations and said that there is no such plan. Talking to the media, he said that there is no possibility of reshuffle in the cabinet. I and the CM are meeting Union Ministers to discuss various issues of the state.
Shivakumar said - no plan
After the victory of the Congress in the 2023 assembly elections, both Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar were staking claim for the post of Chief Minister. But after the intervention of the high command, Siddaramaiah was made the Chief Minister. It was then said that Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar would be made CM on a formula of two and a half years each.
As the months passed in Siddaramaiah's tenure in the state, the aspirations of Shivakumar's camp kept taking shape. As soon as two and a half years were completed, speculations started that now Shivakumar might get the chance. But the situation did not become clear. After the long silence of the high command, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the party is not going to make any changes at the moment and if something like this happens, the media will be informed.
Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have publicly denied any formula of two and a half years each. But still such speculations keep on coming up every day. Here, Siddaramaiah met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to get permission for the airshow during Mysore Dussehra. At the same time, Shivakumar talked to the Union Ministers for the approval of water projects.
