Gandhi Maidan Ready for Nitish Kumar’s Historic 10th Oath Ceremony

Patna is set to host a high-profile swearing-in ceremony on Thursday as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar prepares to take oath for a record 10th term. A massive security and logistical operation has transformed Gandhi Maidan into a fortified venue ahead of the event, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, and several chief ministers from NDA-ruled states.

With the Prime Minister’s presence, security at the ground has been taken over by the Special Protection Group (SPG). More than 2,500 personnel, 250 officers, and over 250 magistrates have been deployed across the area, while snipers monitor from nearby high-rises. The venue is under continuous drone surveillance, supported by 128 CCTV camerasmany of them newly repaired for the ceremony. Metal detectors, layered frisking, and barricaded routes have been put in place to regulate crowd movement.

Two stages have been erected to accommodate around 150 guests each. The main platform will host the oath-taking ceremony, with PM Modi, senior BJP leaders, and newly inducted ministers seated alongside Nitish Kumar. The adjoining stage is reserved for special invitees, Padma awardees, and other dignitaries.

The NDA is preparing a large show of strength, with party units across Bihar expecting to mobilise more than three lakh supporters. Legislators have been asked to bring sizable contingents to underscore the alliance’s political heft.

Accommodation arrangements have been made across Patna, with about 260 rooms booked in top hotels for visiting leaders. The State Guest House and district guest house have also been readied for official delegations. Later in the evening, Raj Bhavan will host a banquet for the Prime Minister, featuring a curated spread including litti-chokha, Silao ka khaja, and other traditional dishes.

Nitish Kumar reviewed preparations at Gandhi Maidan on Tuesday, issuing final instructions to officials. VIP entry has been restricted to Gate No. 1, with other gates designated for the general public. The elaborate arrangements signal the scale and significance of the political milestone awaiting Bihar on Thursday.
