Home voting facility: 2,765 polling stations in Nalanda district

With the announcement of the Bihar Assembly elections, the administration in Nalanda district has gone on high alert. Following a press note issued on October 6, the Model Code of Conduct is now in effect across the district. The administration has made arrangements to ensure free and fair elections.
Voting will be held across seven assembly constituencies in Nalanda: Asthawan, Bihar Sharif, Rajgir, Islampur, Hilsa, Nalanda, and Harnaut. A total of 2,765 polling stations have been set up. Bihar Sharif has the highest number with 445 polling stations, while Asthawan has 370.
Candidates can obtain nomination papers from the Election Officer’s office of their respective constituencies. The deposit is Rs 10,000 for general category candidates and Rs 5,000 for SC, ST, and women candidates. Nomination papers can also be downloaded online with payment.In Bihar Sharif, nominations are open for Nalanda, Bihar Sharif, Asthawan, and Harnaut assemblies. In Rajgir and Hilsa, nominations will cover Rajgir, Islampur, and Hilsa assemblies.
District Magistrate Kundan Kumar has issued strict prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code until November 15, 2025. The orders prohibit assemblies, processions, or protests of five or more persons without prior permission. Sound amplifying devices are banned from 10 PM to 6 AM.
Bringing or displaying weapons in public places is prohibited. Religious places cannot be used for political propaganda. Pamphlets, photos, or social media messages inciting communal tension are banned.
Exemptions include government officials on duty, Sikh followers carrying kirpans, funeral processions, religious rituals, and permitted social events. Violations will be dealt with under Section 223 of the IPC and Section 215 of the Civil Security Code.
The district administration has appealed to voters to participate actively and help make the elections free, fair, and peaceful.
Young and disabled voters
A total of 36,531 young voters will cast their votes in Nalanda district, including 8,924 males and 10,773 females. Bihar Sharif has the highest number of young voters at 6,497.
Special arrangements have been made for 20,510 disabled voters, including 13,638 males and 6,871 females. All polling stations will be on the ground floor and equipped with ramps, wheelchairs, and support staff.
Voters above 85 years of age and those with over 40 percent disability can vote from home by submitting Form 12-D. Election officials will visit their homes to complete the voting process.
Nalanda has 5,594 service voters. Islampur has the highest at 1,045, followed by Rajgir with 887 and Nalanda with 849 service voters.
