Leader of Mukesh Sahani’s VIP Shot Dead in Motihari in Early Morning Attack

Kameshwar Sahani, 50, a senior leader of Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and district in-charge of the Raxaul organisation, was shot dead outside his home in Tinkoni village early Friday morning. The attack occurred around 6 am as Sahani was performing his morning ablutions when masked assailants on a motorcycle opened fire, striking him in the head and chest. He died instantly at the scene.

Raxaul DSP Manish Anand confirmed that local police rushed to the site immediately after receiving reports. “The crime scene has been secured, and we are examining CCTV footage from nearby cameras,” he said. A dog squad and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team have also been deployed to collect evidence and reconstruct the attack.

Preliminary investigations have identified two suspects, and raids are ongoing to apprehend them. Authorities are exploring multiple angles, including Sahani’s prior enmities, longstanding rivalries, and political motives. Sahani reportedly had several criminal cases registered against him, and investigators are examining whether personal disputes or old feuds contributed to the attack.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the political community in Bihar, with local leaders condemning the brazen killing and demanding swift action. “We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice is delivered,” said DSP Anand, urging locals to cooperate with the investigation.

The early morning shooting marks a significant escalation of violence against regional political figures in Bihar, raising concerns over security arrangements for VIP leaders. Police have intensified patrolling in Motihari and surrounding areas to prevent further incidents.

Authorities have appealed to witnesses and residents to come forward with any information regarding the suspects, while the investigation into the motive and planning behind the murder continues.

This targeted killing underscores the persistent risks faced by political leaders in regions with entrenched rivalries and criminal-political intersections.
