Major Progress in Rajkot During Development Week

As part of Development Week under the Developed Village, Developed Gujarat initiative, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited Rajkot on Saturday, October 11, to inaugurate significant development works and provide financial support to local governance bodies.
₹194 Crore Projects Inaugurated
At the event held at Yogi Auditorium, Swaminarayan Temple, Kalawad Road, development projects worth around ₹194 crore were launched. In addition, ₹21 crore in grants were distributed to village panchayat sarpanches as supplementary assistance following the abolition of the gram panchayat octroi system.
CM Highlights Rajkot’s Historical Role
Addressing the gathering, CM Bhupendra Patel remarked that one installment of the Prime Minister’s quarterly payment to farmers would be disbursed before Diwali. He highlighted Rajkot’s historical importance, noting that Narendra Modi contested his first election from Rajkot. Patel added that the trust placed by Rajkot’s residents now reflects the faith of 140 crore citizens of India.
He also praised the transformation in local governance, stating that 761 gram panchayats have been declared unanimous, with more educated and youth leaders assuming the role of sarpanch. Projects that earlier took months to complete are now executed rapidly, demonstrating a mindset shift toward efficient development.
Encouraging Self-Reliance and Innovation
During the event, CM Patel shared the story of Drone Didi, who earns ₹14 lakh annually, emphasizing self-reliance. Observing a quiet audience, he urged participation in celebrating others’ achievements, which was followed by applause. He stressed the importance of producing domestic goods, noting that Indian-made toys are now exported to 143 countries.
Massive Fund Disbursement for Rural Development
CM Patel highlighted that ₹541 crore approved yesterday under rural development schemes has already been credited to sarpanch accounts. Each gram panchayat is set to receive ₹4 crore, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local. He stressed the need for high-quality execution of development works and collective progress.
Virtual Participation by Ministers and MPs
The event saw Rajya Sabha MPs Ram Mokariya and Kesaridevsinh Jhala joining virtually from Amardal village, Porbandar, along with a medical camp organized there. Minister Bhanubhen Babariya participated virtually from Bhavnagar, reflecting the collaborative approach in driving Gujarat’s development agenda.
