Mamata Banerjee Hits Back at Critics, Touts Bengal as Leading Logistics Hub

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sharply rebutted attempts to defame West Bengal on Thursday, insisting the state has emerged as a prime investment destination and a key logistics powerhouse despite deliberate misinformation campaigns.

Speaking at the Business & Industry Conclave in Dhana Dhanya auditorium, Banerjee accused vested interests of spreading fake narratives, including misattributing incidents from other states to Bengal.

"Some people want to defame Bengal, but they don't know how much the state has changed," she declared. "Bengal is today one of the leading logistics hubs and serves as the gateway to Southeast Asia, East India, and the North Eastern states."

She highlighted reliable 24×7 power, abundant resources, a skilled workforce, and zero man-day losses in 14 years. Major firms like Amazon and Flipkart have built massive warehousing here, with the World Bank aiding export infrastructure.

Banerjee criticised central agencies for harassing industrialists, deterring growth, and claimed ₹20,000 crore in GST dues withheld.

The address followed a BJP report labelling Bengal an "industrial graveyard." She countered with progress in tourism, MSMEs, IT, and jobs, citing NITI Aayog data on falling unemployment.

Emphasising harmony, Banerjee vowed inclusive development. "Division is not the solution."

As the state pushes ahead of the Bengal Global Business Summit, her pitch underscores resilience amid political barbs over funds and probes. Industry leaders praised policy stability at the conclave.
