Congress Leader Cites Nuclear Risk and UNSC Role in Supporting U.S. President's Intervention

Manish Tewari Justifies Trump’s Mediation Remark on India-Pakistan Tensions

Congress leader Manish Tewari defended former U.S. President Donald Trump’s offer to mediate between India and Pakistan, citing the dangers of conflict between two nuclear-armed nations. He also referenced the United Nations Security Council’s role in such matters, suggesting that global powers often intervene to maintain peace.

After the Pahalgam terror attack, a ceasefire was suddenly announced on May 10 at 5 pm amid the long tension and conflict between India and Pakistan. Mixed reactions are coming from across the country regarding this ceasefire. Some are calling it right and some are calling it wrong. Now a statement of Congress MP Manish Tiwari has also come out on this matter. He said that one thing is clear that if Pakistan now uses terrorism as its policy, then it will have to face the consequences. Along with this, the MP has justified the intervention of America.

The Congress MP said that after the Pahalgam massacre, the Indian armed forces took revenge through Operation Sindoor. Now I think that Pakistan and its rulers must have also understood that this cannot go on forever. Neither can they use nuclear blackmail every time nor the terrorists. After India's action, it must have become clear to the Pakistanis.

Chandigarh Congress MP Manish Tewari said that the statement that has come from US President Donald Trump, whether you like it or not, is a factual statement. If you look at the India-Pakistan perspective from 1947 to 1972, whenever tensions escalated between India and Pakistan, it was primarily over the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

'The world will not stand idly by and watch...'

There were UN Security Council resolutions which were the template for any negotiations that took place between the two countries. The ultimate conclusion is that when tensions escalate between two de facto nuclear weapon states, the rest of the world will not stand idly by and watch. So, other countries of the world will obviously talk to the two countries when they are not talking to each other.
