Minister's Derogatory Remarks on Army Officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi Spark Outrage
Union Minister's offensive comment about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi condemned by military officials and women's rights groups.
A Union Minister's objectionable comment about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a decorated Indian Army officer, has ignited widespread criticism. Military leaders and women's rights organizations have condemned the remarks, highlighting ongoing challenges related to gender bias in the armed forces.
In a program organized in Mhow of Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah made such a statement, which has created controversy. In his address, Forest Minister Shah made objectionable remarks on Indian Army's female officer Colonel Sophia Qureshi. In his statement, Shah said, "Pakistanis took off the clothes of the people of our country, but we sent their sister of the society (Colonel Sophia Qureshi) and got them beaten up." Shah further said that the terrorists had said to tell Modi that they killed our Hindus and took off their clothes. That is why Modi ji sent their sister in our army plane, so that she could teach them a lesson. While many people are surprised by this statement of the minister, it is being considered against the honor of the female officer and the Indian Army. Sharp reactions are coming on social media regarding this statement. Former women minister Usha Thakur was also present on the stage when he was speaking.
