NSA Demand Against Raj Thackeray

Lawyers have launched a protest demanding NSA against MNS chief Raj Thackeray, accusing him of inciting hatred under the guise of promoting the Marathi language.

Three senior lawyers of Bombay High Court have opened a front against the MNS leader and have written a letter to Maharashtra DGP and complained and demanded to register an FIR against Raj Thackeray. The three lawyers have written in the letter that Raj Thackeray's recent statements have created an atmosphere of violence and hatred against non-Marathi people. Complaints of assault on non-Marathi people are coming up continuously. Attacking on linguistic basis is a violation of the Constitution. Therefore, action should be taken against Raj Thackeray by imposing NSA.

The lawyers say that Marathi is the regional language of Maharashtra and it is the duty of all Indian citizens to respect the Marathi language. However, in the last few days, incidents of assault, insult and violence by MNS workers on citizens of other states over language have come to light, which creates a serious and unconstitutional situation.

The lawyers have demanded action against Raj Thackeray's statements under Section 123 (45) - spreading enmity on the basis of caste, religion, language, Section 124 - attacking the unity of the country, Section 232 - spreading terror, Section 345 (2) - deliberately spreading enmity, Section 357 - spreading public panic and NSA.

What have the lawyers written in the complaint-

The complaint states that, during an event in Worli, Mumbai on July 5, Raj Thackeray allegedly said that "whoever speaks to us in the wrong language will be silenced in a minute. He also said that "such incidents should not be shot on video card. The lawyers allege that this statement is dangerous from the point of view of law and order and violates several articles of the Constitution.

Tension after Raj Thackeray's statements!

According to the complainants, after Raj Thackeray's speech, MNS workers adopted an aggressive attitude and attacked leaders of other political parties and vandalized their offices. FIRs have also been registered regarding these incidents at various places. The lawyers have alleged that these attacks in the name of "Marathi language" are promoting political hatred. It is clear that communal and regional divisions are being created in the state by spreading violence on linguistic basis, which is a threat to the fabric of society.

The lawyers say that it is the first responsibility of the government to maintain law and order by taking strict action against those who spread anarchy and hatred in the state and ensure that under no circumstances the Marathi speaking or Muslim community suffers harm on the basis of caste, religion or language.
