Priyanka Gandhi slams Bihar government over rising crime at Begusarai rally

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a sharp attack on the NDA government in Bihar while addressing a rally in Bachhwara, Begusarai, on Saturday as part of her election campaign. She accused the government of failing to maintain law and order, saying that crime in the state is at its peak, women feel unsafe, and even industrialists are being targeted.

“Crime at its peak, women unsafe in Bihar”

Priyanka said that incidents of violence have become frequent in Bihar.

“Industrialists are being murdered, and even political leaders are attacked during campaign rallies,” she said.
She added that women live in constant fear:
“Crimes against women have risen sharply. Mothers fear for their daughters’ safety. Even stepping out for work has become dangerous.”

During her speech, a brief microphone malfunction interrupted her address, but she quickly switched to another mic and continued, drawing applause from the crowd.

“Bihar being run from Delhi, not Patna”

The Congress leader accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of surrendering control to the central leadership.

“Nitish Kumar has no real authority anymore. The state government is being run from Delhi — he only follows their orders,” she alleged.

“People’s rights being taken away”

Priyanka claimed that the state government had deliberately removed 65 lakh names from the voter list during the SIR survey.

“Removing your name means taking away your rights. This is being done to silence your voice and deny you government benefits,” she said.

“Everything privatised, sold to friends”

She also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing his government of crony capitalism.

“They’ve privatised everything — selling government assets to just two of Modi ji’s closest friends. Everything has been taxed and handed over,” she said.

“Modi promised jobs, but gave only slogans”

Priyanka questioned the BJP’s job creation promises.

“Modi ji talks about creating crores of jobs, but what did he do in the last 11 years? Farmers are suffering, small traders are destroyed, and public wealth has been handed to the rich,” she said.

“These leaders are vote thieves”

Calling the ruling alliance “vote thieves”, Priyanka alleged that the NDA has ruled Bihar for 20 years without real progress.

“No one talks about education, inflation, or unemployment anymore. They only distract people,” she said. “Now the people are alert — these leaders are scared and stealing votes.”

“Exams leak, promises break”

Highlighting youth frustration, she said,

“Every time an exam is held, papers get leaked. Corruption has destroyed opportunities for the young.”
She added that India’s true development took place under Congress governments.

“Modi distributing ₹10,000 to mislead voters”

Priyanka accused the BJP of offering ₹10,000 to women voters ahead of the elections.

“After 11 years of neglect, now they are giving money to buy votes. Their intentions aren’t honest. Take it if you must — but vote wisely,” she told the crowd.

“Choose a government that works for you”

Appealing to women voters, Priyanka said,

“Don’t fall for empty promises. Elect a government that delivers education, jobs, and integrity. Recognise your power — and if we fail, remove us too.”

“Bihar’s people are building the nation”

She praised the hardworking spirit of Biharis, saying,

“Wherever you go in India, you’ll find Biharis working hard and building the nation. You are the backbone of India — don’t trust those who only seek power for themselves.”

She also endorsed Congress candidate Shiv Prakash Garibdas, describing him as “a man of the people who understands your struggles.”
