Proposal to Establish Bharat Mandapam in Gwalior: MP Bharat Singh Submits Letter to Union Minister Piyush Goyal; CAT Expresses Opposition

BJP MP Bharat Singh has proposed the construction of a Bharat Mandapam in Gwalior, similar to Delhi's convention centre, to boost tourism and trade. However, the Central Archaeological Team (CAT) has opposed the plan, citing potential threats to local heritage and ecology.

A proposal has been made to establish Investment and Trade Facilitation Convention Centre i.e. Bharat Mandapam in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, like Delhi. MP Bharat Singh Kushwaha met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and gave this request letter. After this, there is a discussion among the business class that preparations are being made to establish it in the Gwalior Trade Fair.

The traders' organization Confederation of All India Traders i.e. CAT has opposed this. The traders have met MP Kushwaha and put forward the proposal. Inside the Gwalior Trade Fair, a facilitation center was built at a cost of crores through the amount collected by the traders in the past, which is not being used today. In such a situation, if there is a proposal to build Bharat Mandapam, then the vacant space of the SADA area should be used for it so that the SADA area can also be developed. However, the MP says that only a proposal has been given for Bharat Mandapam. If Gwalior gets this gift, then further things will be decided. There has been no discussion on the land related to its establishment yet. The administration will decide the selection of the place after the approval of the proposal.
