Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav Discuss Seat-Sharing Amid Congress-RJD Rift
Digital Desk
The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar is grappling with a major seat-sharing stalemate, with the Congress expressing dissatisfaction over its allocation in the upcoming assembly polls. Amid rising tensions, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has spoken with Rahul Gandhi over the phone in an effort to resolve the impasse. If talks remain inconclusive, Tejashwi is expected to travel to Delhi for a face-to-face meeting with the Congress leader.
Lalu Calls Emergency Meeting at Rabri Devi’s Residence
In a significant development, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has convened an emergency meeting of senior party leaders and alliance representatives at Rabri Devi’s residence on Saturday. The discussions will focus on seat allocation and the potential entry of Pashupati Paras’s faction into the alliance. Party sources said a final clarification regarding Paras’s position is expected during this meeting.
Congress Calls Emergency Online Session
Simultaneously, the Congress has also called an urgent online meeting, to be attended by members of the screening committee and senior observers from Delhi via Zoom. Sources indicate that this session will finalise seat-sharing decisions and candidate lists.
Surajbhan Singh Set to Join RJD with Family
Adding a new twist to the political realignments, former MP and strongman Surajbhan Singh is set to join the RJD on Saturday, along with his wife Veena Devi and brother Chandan Singh. He will be the third influential Bhumihar leader to join the party this week. Tejashwi Yadav is expected to personally welcome them into the party fold.
Reports suggest that Veena Devi may be fielded as the RJD candidate from Mokama, where the party plans to challenge Anant Singh. With the Singh family’s deep influence in the region, the move is seen as a strategic step to strengthen RJD’s base.
Seat-Sharing Formula of the Mahagathbandhan
According to sources, the seat-sharing arrangement has been finalised and is expected to be officially announced today. Tejashwi Yadav may contest from two constituencies — Raghopur and Phulparas.
