Rohini Acharya Accuses RJD Leaders, Raises Controversy Over Kidney Donation and Family Rift

Rohini Acharya, daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has intensified her public criticism of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leadership, releasing a video and multiple social media posts alleging internal mismanagement and hypocrisy over her kidney donation to her father.

Acharya expressed anger at family and party associates, stating, “When it came to donating a kidney, the son ran away.” She challenged those criticizing her for donating her kidney to come forward and make the same sacrifice for poor patients, asserting that critics should demonstrate courage rather than propagate false narratives.

The controversy has deepened following the Bihar Assembly elections, where RJD won only 25 seats, a sharp decline from its 2020 tally. Acharya accused close aides of Tejashwi Yadav, including Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, of exerting undue influence over party affairs and her personal life. She claimed that she was pressured to leave the family home and sever political ties, posting that she felt “orphaned” and left her maternal home in tears after threats, including being threatened with a slipper.

RJD workers, reportedly angered by the developments, gathered outside Rabri Devi’s residence in Patna, chanting slogans against Sanjay Yadav. Acharya’s brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, echoed her sentiments on social media, calling alleged traitors within the party “hollowing out the RJD” and warning that those insulting his sister would be “taught a lesson by the public.”

Acharya’s posts also highlight the broader issue of gendered expectations in political and familial responsibilities, emphasizing the disproportionate burden placed on daughters in matters of family care. Her statements underscore both personal grievances and accusations of internal party malpractice.

The dispute has drawn attention to the RJD’s internal dynamics post-election, as well as the broader implications of political influence, familial obligations, and accountability in Bihar politics. Acharya’s public confrontation with the party leadership signals ongoing tensions that may influence the party’s strategy and cohesion in the near future.
