Second Day of Bihar Assembly Nominations: Administration on High Alert

The Bihar Assembly General Elections 2025 nomination process is underway, with today marking the second day of filing nominations. No candidates had submitted their papers on the first day. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the last date for nominations is October 17, scrutiny will take place on October 18, and the final date for withdrawal is October 20.
Security Measures and Personnel Deployment
Candidates can submit nominations between 11 AM and 3 PM across the 14 assembly constituencies in Patna district. Nomination centres have been set up at the Collectorate, Patna City, Danapur, Masaurhi, Paliganj subdivision offices, and the BDO office in Bikram. For robust security, the ECI has deployed over 8.5 lakh personnel across the district.
District officials, including District Magistrate and District Election Officer Dr. Thyagarajan S.M. and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma, have instructed all staff to strictly adhere to ECI guidelines. At the same time, public awareness campaigns are being conducted to encourage maximum voter turnout.
Major Seizures Since Model Code of Conduct
Following the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar has intensified statewide surveillance and seizure operations to prevent voter inducement. Items seized include:
- Cash: ₹20.06 lakh
- Liquor: ₹661.43 lakh
- Narcotics: ₹206.58 lakh
- Valuable items: ₹67.60 lakh
- Freebies/other items: ₹327.00 lakh
The total value of seized items stands at approximately ₹11.83 crore.
Joint Efforts for Free and Fair Elections
Teams from the district administration, police, excise, income tax, narcotics bureau, customs, and flying squads are working in coordination to ensure transparent and fair elections. The CEO’s office has instructed all districts to remain vigilant and take prompt action on any complaints.
Voter Support and Helpline
Voters have been urged to participate confidently and without fear of inducement. A toll-free voter helpline (1950) has been made available for assistance and information. Officials emphasized that every vote strengthens democracy and encouraged citizens to exercise their franchise responsibly
